Be thankful

I am so thankful for so many things in my life right now. I am always thinking about how blessed I am. I am not rich, nor do I have everything I could ever want, but I am safe, healthy and happy. Not everyone has this in their lives.

There was this homeless lady that stayed outside of my window at work. She had the most crazy setup I have ever seen a homeless woman have. We talked about her at work quite often and wondered what her story was.

Today the police came because someone called to complain. The street she stays on is only used for construction so I am pretty sure that some douche bag who doesn't care about Thanksgiving called her in. I believe my coworker is going to try to get her to a shelter for the homeless or something this weekend. I wanted to help, so I moved one of her carts (which honestly must have weighted 90lbs) a couple of blocks away so that she could make sure nothing was stolen. Apparently several things of hers have been stolen in the past.

Not everyone can help someone like I did today, but if you have an opportunity to do so, please do. This is the time of year it means most.

Marcus Davis talks UFC 106 and Dan Hardy

If you asked Marcus Davis what is on his mind most, it won't take long for Dan Hardy's name to come up.

Marcus joined us on our latest episode of MMAScraps Radio and let all of his feelings be known about his arch nemesis Dan Hardy.

When asked his thoughts on Swick vs Hardy, Marcus said "It's a win for Dan Hardy and now he gets to move on to get absolutely slaughtered by GSP."

Marcus believes that Dan Hardy has no chance against GSP because of his lack of a good sprawl.

"If Marcus Davis can take you down 5 times in a fight...GSP is going to take you down 10 times a round....GSP is going to setup shop (on the ground) and pound him out."

Dan Hardy and Marcus Davis fought each other at UFC 99 where Dan Hardy won a split decision. Marcus didn't agree with the judge's decision.

"Sports Illustrated, Fox Sports, Yahoo Sports and everyone said using (UFC judging rules) they gave me the fight against Dan Hardy."

Marcus fights Ben Saunders (7-1-2) on Saturday's UFC 106 card. He has been training his hands and footwork in order to out strike Ben. He said his hand speed has increased dramatically since his sparring at Sityodtong.

"For this fight, which I haven't done since I was a boxer, I have just concentrated on speed."

"I was throwing 3.4 punches a second (at the start of camp), and (couple of weeks later) I was throwing 5.7 punches a second."

While his hand speed is better, he believes his increased footwork will be the competitive advantage that he needs against Ben. Marcus believes that with his experience against the top contenders in the 170 pound division, Ben has no chance to beat him.

Even though Ben is in his immediate future, it's all a means to an end.

"I have to fight until I get the fight I want, against that douchebag Dan Hardy."

Ocho Cinco Challenges the UFC--Update

For some reason, Chad "Ocho Cinco" has challenged Dana White to find him a fight with 'the #1 and #2 fighters' in the UFC with proceeds going to charity.

More specifically he wants to fight Anderson Silva:

Let's be real here for a second.  This is a guy who changed his name to match his jersey number.  Who would really take him seriously here?  We know that Dana doesn't go for the freak fights, but maybe Ocho should give a ring to Dream.  Maybe he could fight Hong Man Choi?

It appears that Dana is game.  Dana tweeted "If you are really serious (Chad) contact me.  We'll put together a fight for charity".

Tag Team Submission Match

Matt Hume who is the trainer of such fighters as Rich Franklin and Chris Leben, holds amateur MMA and kick boxing matches on a semi regular basis under the name Genesis fights. It was under one of these very cards where I saw my first live fights. One of them is the video below of a tag team submission match.

Part WWE, part submission wrestling, the match is held under traditional pro wrestling tag team rules with one exception: this is a real submission match. Very fun and very quick, this contest shows that thinking outside the box is kinda cool.

Mark Hunt willing to take the TUF road back to the top

The last time Mark Hunt was seen in an MMA, it was another disappointing loss.  His last fight in Dream was a submission loss in the Super Hulk Tournament which could have been all his to win had he gotten out of the first round.  Never one to make excuses, Mark has taken some time off to reflect and rebuild himself as a fighter.  He now believes that he is ready to return to MMA and take on the top fighters in the world.


Mark is very aware of his current ranking but wants to get right back on the horse.  In an exclusive interview with MMA Scraps Radio, Mark says he wants to get back to the winner's circle by either fighting on New Years Eve or early next year.  If he can't get a fight with Dream, he'd be willing to give TUF a try.

When asked if he would ever try being a contestant on the Ultimate Fighter he hesitated then answered "..if I have to get to where I want to be, of course I would do it."  Mark says that some of his latest losses come because of mental problems he has to overcome.  "It's just a mental game for me, that's the problem.  I think a lot of fighters go thru the mental part of the fight game....and have to find a way to get thru it.  I just have to find that way back myself to be a winner again."

Mark has launched a new blog where he intends to interact with fans. His blog will be updated frequently and will take requests from fans...within reason. "As long as it doesn't involve taking my clothes off" he jokes.
