“An Educated Fighter”

In the past five years Nick “The Goat” Thompson has fought over fifty fights (38-12-1) and is proud of his record. He has been around the block with fight promotions such as; UFC, Bodog, Sengoku, EliteXC and Strikeforce. Nick describes “the UFC and the MGM as something really cool but they don’t need you; with Bodog nobody watches but they treat you like a rock star; and Strikeforce is somewhere in between.”

With a move up in weight class and recent decision to sign with Shine Fight Promotions, Nick will fight in the welterweight division. Shine is signing international fighters from all over the world to bring in more talent. One of the main reasons Nick signed with Shine was the fact that over the next year and a half, he will compete in four to six fights. “Shine will give me a spot in every show if that’s what I want.” Nick explains “I don’t care about big names I just want to fight talented guys”.

His debut Shine fight is scheduled for Mid-May of 2010 against Danillo Villefort (10-3), who trains with American Top Team. Nick currently trains at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy where other fighters such as; Brock Lesnar, Sean Sherk, Logan Clark, Paul Bradley, Jacob Volkmann and Derrick Noble also train. Minnesota Martial Arts Academy offers training in Muay Thai, Shooto, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Aside from an impressive amount of fight experience, Nick recently graduated from Minnesota Law School a year and a half ago and is mostly practicing Criminal Law. Nick is excited that he is in the EA Sports video game that is coming out later this summer. EA Sports Mixed Martial Art is an upcoming video game which will be published by EA Sports and developed by EA Tiburon in 2010 and will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Nick’s sponsors are Tapout, Gammo, MMA Carnage and MMA Overload.
